The Carolina Shores Quilt Guild is 20 years old this year! In 1985 a small group of ladies who shared the love of quilting formed this group to share ideas and improve their techniques. Today there are about 40 members consisting of both beginners and experienced quilters. The Quilt Guild meets the second Friday of every month except August at the POA clubhouse from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM. The business meeting is followed by a workshop, demonstration or lecture. In addition to our regular meetings, members also can attend various outings. Another get-together is a reciprocity arrangement with the Oak Island Beach Quilters. Several years ago they invited our Guild for lunch and a meeting to share ideas. The relationship has continued. This year we will host them for lunch at our regular May meeting. Show and Tell is always a high-light at all these events. Members also have the opportunity to attend Quilt Shows. There will be a show in June by a Wilmington, NC, quilt guild. There are others also within our general area. One of the service projects in which the Guild is involved is making quilts for the children who stay at Ronald McDonald House in Durham while undergoing treatment at Duke University Hospital. Within the past year about 60 quilts were delivered along with some knitted booties and several cloth books.
