The Carolina Shores Quilt Guild is 21 years old this year! In 1985 a small group of ladies who shared the love of quilting formed this group to share ideas and improve their techniques. Today there are about 50 members consisting of both beginners and experienced quilters.
The Quilt Guild meets the second Friday of every month except July and August at the POA clubhouse from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM. The business meeting is followed by a workshop, demonstration or lecture.
In addition to regular meetings, members also can attend quilt shows in the surrounding area. One get-together is a reciprocity arrangement with the Oak Island Beach Quilters. Several years ago they invited our Guild for lunch and a meeting to share ideas. The relationship has continued. This year they will host us on May 9th for our now-annual challenge. The theme this year is movement. Show and Tell is always a high-light at all of these events.
One of the service projects in which the Guild is involved is making quilts for the children who stay at Ronald McDonald House in Durham while undergoing treatment at Duke University Hospital. See specific information about the number of items donated below under link for the Ronald McDonald House.
