Carolina Beach State Park & Ft. Fisher State Recreation Area

My daughter Joy, her husband Mark Vukovich, and I went to Carolina Beach State Park in a futile search of Venus flytraps. We found that the park is on the intracoastal waterway, not on the ocean. See the blue photos below. The park's name is misleading; it is in the town of Carolina Beach. On our return trip, while headed toward the ferry at Ft. Fisher, we stopped in the Ft. Fisher Recreation Area where Mark and Joy did some birding. Mark got a life bird, a white-winged scoter. Then we took the ferry across to Southport. I asked passengers to feed gulls Cheetos so that I could photograph them. I didn't use a fast-enough shutter speed. |
